This scientific monograph presents a theoretical basis and research results in the area of evaluation in dramatherapy. It stems from the need to show the efficiency of dramatherapy and to explain the specific principles of its functioning proved by evidence. Existing approaches in evaluation are mainly based on the assessment of clients though general psychological instruments before and aft er providing intervention. It occurred that there is an absence of a complex system of evaluation that would capture the results of the therapy as well as its process and effective factors specific for dramatherapy. The authors of the publication constructed and validated their own evaluation rating instrument and designed further possibilities of evaluation with different focus and usage of several types of methodology. The creation of the evaluation tools was preceded by an analysis of selected theories of dramatherapy and by a construction of a theoretical platform of research. Subsequently, methodological approaches to evaluation were examined from the perspective of product or process orientation and from the perspective of selection of the methodological paradigm of quantitative or qualitative research. Th e analysis lead into comparison of evaluation tools in the historical context with the focus on instruments implementing parts of drama. The authors conducted a series of researches focused on verification of methods of evaluations specific for dramatherapy. These researches included: a) a study on the usage of role profiles within role theory and comparison of results with previous researches; b) art-based research as means of evaluation that draws on the artistic nature of dramatherapy and explores dramatherapeutic constructs by dramatherapeutic methods; c) construction and validation of the evaluation rating instrument, which includes dramatherapeutic categories that allow observing changes in clients in time; d) qualitative analysis of dramatherapeutic process from the perspective of clients; and e) self-evaluation of a dramatherapist, which fills in the jigsaw of complex evaluation. Th e meaning of the publication lies in creating a comprehensive concept of evaluation in dramatherapy including evaluation from the perspectives of research subjects and objects and from the perspective of different methodological approaches. Designing and verification of evaluation instruments in art-based research, qualitative analysis and quantitative tools of the evaluation rating and dramatherapist self-evaluation instrument presented in the monograph belong to the outcomes of the POST-UP II.
