Abstract

Selective laser melting (SLM) is a new technology utilized in fabricating various metallic biomaterials. This process is not only used to fabricate complex geometrical structure and fully dense parts but also helps to improve their mechanical behavior. Processing parameters and various SLM manufacturing part designs, such as solid, porous, and hybrid, influence the final fabricated mechanical properties of the parts. Due to the improved mechanical behavior of metallic biomaterials, SLM has been widely adopted in the biomedical and aerospace industries.
