Abstract

Nonlinear deterministic and stochastic oscillations of a moving long slender continuum (LSC) carrying a concentrated inertia element is analyzed. When the system is subjected to external excitations transient resonance and modal interactions occur. These phenomena can be studied by using a stochastic linearised model of the system comprising cable carrying a concentrated mass.
