Abstract
Rebel-Misfit is a live a soundscape experience, recorded, composed, designed and performed by Stace Constantinou. It's about the sonic experience of living and being in the English town of Northampton.
This live performance has two people working collaboratively to realise the musical event: Stace Constantinou and Michael W. Bell.
An 8 x 7 grid is used to contain 56 separate field recordings and compositional elements, that Stace Constantinou has made. These fixed elements are then performed live using an Improvisation Score to release in real-time the actual musical event.
Simultaneously, the live-improvised music is also being diffused live using an octophonic, spatial array (8-speaker rig) by Michael W. Bell.
Rebel-Misft follows on from and develops ideas from ‘Partial Outsiders’ made in collaboration with Julie Samuels for a RSA event in London, November 2022. Organised by Julie Samuels FRSE and Zoë Camper FRSA co-founders of the RSA Augmented Society Network:

Rebel-Misfit utilises Found Sounds (recordings made by the artist) as well as compositional materials. These are brought together from several sources including people discussing how they think and feel they fit into contemporary UK culture, focussing on people living and working in Northampton.
This live performance formed one element of a larger arts exhibition at The Hive, Worcester for: Creativity Offers Us A New Formula for Life (Monday 20 May to Friday 14 June) by the Augmented Society Network an RSA event.
