Abstract

Review of Virginia Woolf and Katherine Mansfield: A Creative Rivalry, by Hilary Newman (London: Cecil Woolf, 2004). The ‘Bloomsbury Heritage Series’ publishes essays on the ‘Life and Times of the Bloomsbury Group’, in a beautifully designed series of booklets, of which this is number 35. In this essay, Hilary Newman examines both the lives, as well as the writing, of Virginia Woolf and Katherine Mansfield, seeking out similarities and resonances, as well as obvious differences.
