Abstract
Social networking sites are increasingly important as a career development tool (Mogaji, 2019; Healy et al., 2023), helping people to strengthen professional relationships and find jobs and internships (Lexis et al., 2023). LinkedIn is the most commonly used professional social networking tool, with around 42.9 million users in the UK in July 2024 (Statista, 2024). However, many undergraduates do not have a profile (Lexis et al., 2023). This vignette reflects upon my experience of supporting Geography undergraduates in developing LinkedIn profiles and using these to network with alumni and employers, drawing upon the student voice to illustrate barriers and opportunities.
