Abstract
In high-rise elevator applications the inertial load caused by the building sway excites the elevator suspension and compensating ropes as well as overspeed governor ropes. This report presents the results of a study with the aim to predict the dynamic response of the governor ropes and to recommend the required weight / mass of tensioning sheave assemblies installed in banks G, J and S3.
The objectives of this study are as follows:
• To develop a model for the analysis of the dynamic behaviour of the governor rope system.
• To carry out computer simulations to predict the rope response.
• To devise guidelines for the selection of tensioning sheave assembly.
