YMCA MK – Interim Report - Year 1

This report presents interim results from the YMCA MK evaluation for July 2020 to October 2020. The YMCA is the only social housing and homeless charity dedicated to young people in Milton Keynes. YMCA MK opened a new campus in March 2020, with 199 access points in a tiered housing structure. Residents move through three stages of accommodation, with each stage offering bigger accommodation. Stage One (Supported) builds on the YMCA MK existing hostel with 30 rooms where residents will stay for 3 – 6 months. Stage 2 (Shared) offers shared accommodation in clusters of between 7 and 12 rooms with a shared living room and kitchen. Stage 3 (Independent) offers affordable self-contained studios and 1-bed flats.

YMCA MK have supported 261 young people between July – October 2020 , with 62 having lived in supported living (at some point), 70 having lived in shared accommodation (at some point) and 138 having lived in independent (at some point). A further 13 have stayed in move-on properties. This report outlines the results from the evaluation data collected by YMCA MK between July 2020 and October 2020. The quantitative data presented was gathered by YMCA MK, with full data available for 157 residents and well-being only data available for a further 48 residents. Case studies contextualise the findings, illustrating residents’ journey in YMCA MK.
