Affordances: A Useful Construct to Investigate Adult Drinking Behaviour? Preliminary Findings and Challenges of an Alternative Prevention Approach.

Activity: Academic Talks or PresentationsConference Presentation

Description

Within this presentation, Kimberley Hill outlines the public health crisis around alcohol misuse and how affordances are a useful and novel construct with provide theoretical and practical opportunities for better understanding the 'functional fit' between an individual and their environment. This provides an insight into how we can promote certain types of behaviours (such as health promoting ones) and restrict others that may harm health (such as those related to alcohol misuse). Kimberley also discusses the challenges with using such a construct and implications for research methods.
