Creative Spark Higher Education Enterprise Programme: Fashion Business Convention

Activity: Academic Talks or PresentationsInvited talkEnterprise

Description

The University of Northampton recently collaborated with Almaty Management University (AlmaU) in Kazakhstan and Kazakh Fashion Week to host its first entrepreneurship convention. This event is the first of five business and skills training events planned for 2019, targeting fashion entrepreneurs in Almaty. It's part of the larger international project "Creative Spark," funded by the British Council, which aims to foster enterprise skills and a creative economy between the UK and Central Asia.
Key University of Northampton faculty members shared insights on current retail, marketing, and entrepreneurship trends. The event's success was seen as the beginning of a fruitful cultural and informational exchange between the University and AlmaU. Creative Spark's objective is to deliver enterprise skills training to students and creative entrepreneurs, covering topics from idea pitching to securing financial support. The British Council supports this initiative with English learning tools and a 'video pitch' competition for students, offering professional development courses in the UK as prizes. This partnership aligns with AlmaU's leadership in entrepreneurship education in Kazakhstan and the University of Northampton's focus on enterprise and its Changemaker ethos.
