This first workshop explored research methods in social innovation, introducing research methods, examples of different approaches from the literature, as well as an exploration of dissemination/publication avenues including journals. Following this, a presentation from Mr Tuan Anh Dinh focused on his PhD study exploring social innovation and educational disadvantage was held to showcase SI research in Vietnam and the challenges faced. Finally, breakout sessions were held in order for partners to identify where their weaknesses/strengths lie in relation to research methods, and also to identify the SDG areas that they feel are important to their own HEI and Vietnam as a whole. The five selected SDG areas are outlined in workshops 2-6. Specific areas of focus include:
a. Research design.
b. Methods and methodology.
c. Theory and practice.
d. Qualitative methods.
e. Quantitative methods.
f. Publication and dissemination.
