The future of learning and teaching in the School of Social Sciences: reinventing old wheels or creating new ones?

Activity: Academic Talks or PresentationsInvited talkTeaching

Description

In this session I will explore what “the future” might look like for the School of Social Sciences with regards to learning and teaching activity. I will examine key drivers for change in current higher education pedagogic practice, and review the capacity of Social Sciences to respond to these in light of existing strengths and potential developments. In order to underpin these discussions, I will draw on ideas expressed from Social Sciences staff about the creative learning and teaching approaches they would like to have the opportunity to experiment with, and feedback from Social Sciences students about how they would envisage the future of their learning experience at university. In conclusion, I will consider the implications for the suggestions posed for students, staff and the institution as a whole.
