Abstract

Consequently, until lately, forgiveness received little attention from psychologists, and interventions to promote it were not developed within therapy. This was an unfortunate state of affairs, for other forms of therapy may fail to provide an appropriate'release'for clients. Forgiveness is a powerful way of allowing this essential frelease'to occur, freeing people from the burden of the past, and allowing a new future to be envisaged on social, interpersonal and individual levels
