Recent Italian legislation requires all teachers to assess children's progress in learning and identify whether due to their special educational needs they require additional provision. Until recently the process of identification was carried out by health specialist and provision was mainly in the form of support teachers. The keynote presentation aimed to support teachers convened by the Trentino Alto-Adige region in learning how teachers in England are support by a multi-professional and multi-agency team of professionals.
