Self-based goals, underlying reasons, performance and discrete emotions among parkrunners

Dataset

Description

This data file displays the quantitative data that was collected via online survey to examine a temporal sequence of hypothesized relationships
between self-based goals and their underlying reasons → stress appraisals →
performance and emotions, among UK parkrunners.

Data represents measures of motivation (self-based goals and their underlying
reasons) taken 7 days prior to participants next UK parkrun (T1) and stress appraisals at 24 h (T2), prior to their next UK parkrun, whilst performance data and discrete emotions (pride and shame) were reported 24 h post-parkrun.

Due to the method of analysis run (Structural Equation Modelling), in order to build the 'best fit' measurement model, the 10 observed items used to assess discrete emotions (i.e., pride and shame) were parceled.

To clarify participants completed measures across three time-points with regards to their next identified parkrun. Data collection lasted across a period of six months in 2018.
