Personal profile

Biography

I am currently a Senior Lecturer in Photography, specialising in photobook studies and photographic history and theory, in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Northampton (UK). I completed my PhD project on the history of photobook-making at Ulster University in 2017 after completing the Photographic History and Practice postgraduate programme at De Montfort University in Leicester. Between 2010 and 2012, I worked at the Wilson Centre for Photography in London as an assistant curator.

Research Interests

My main areas of research include the history and historiography of photobook and artist’s book practice, the development of photomechanical printing technology and visual narrative in book form. I am currently co-editing a study on the history of contemporary Portuguese photobook-making and expanding my research on the relationship between the HIV-AIDS epidemic and photographically illustrated publications.
