Biography

Stuart S. Farquhar is a senior lecturer in Governance and Finance at the University of Northampton with over 28 years experience working at 3 previous universities, Wolverhampton, Queen Margaret, and Salford. He holds a PhD in corporate governance. His main teaching areas include economics, finance and corporate governance. His research interests are in board processes, behaviours and board effectiveness, corporate governance in the sports industry, and sports economics and finance. He has published in various journals on corporate governance and boards and is currently Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Business Governance and Ethics

Teaching Interests

My main teaching areas include economics, finance and corporate governance.

Supervision

I have two successful PhD supervisions at the University of Wolverhampton - Michael Ogunseyin - The determinants of trust in the boardroom; Aderemi Abayome Ojebode - Learing in boards: a grounded theory study of UK boards of directors

I am interested in supervising PhDs in Corporate Governance, Board Dynamics and Effectiveness, Corporate Governance in the Sports Industries, Sports Economics and Finance

External Roles

I have experience of external examining at undergraduate and postgraduate level in Finance at Cardiff Metropolitan University 2014-2018 and DeMontfort University 2016-2018.

I have also acted as an International External Examiner for a Phd at Massey University, New Zealand - Peter Crow thesis, “The influence of boards on business performance: Evidence from inside the boardroom” (November 2015 and resubmission November 2016)

I have been a panel member at Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce in their Quarterly Economic Survey 2019-20

I was also a panel member of Wolverhampton Chamber of Commerce Budget Event 2015-2018
