CyGen Scoping and Needs Analysis

Research output: Book/ReportCommissioned Report

Abstract

This intellectual output (01) mapped the country-specific and EU-wide challenges and opportunities facing children and young people in diverse European member states on their safe, healthy use of the Internet through:

1. Analyses of the policy and research evidence on the digital challenges and the technological and pedagogical approaches currently used in educational settings and by children and parents within the partner countries and the EU.

2. A co-produced needs analysis in each of the four selected schools to identify the digital challenges experienced by children and the everyday practices they use to stay safe online.

3. Participatory appraisal and appreciative inquiry methods will be used to make sense of the information (interviews, observations, documents, drawings). Through this process of dialogue, reflection and interpretation with children, parents and teachers, participants will themselves be central to the deliberation and solution building, ensuring that their knowledge, experience and understandings form the basis of the scope, design and functionality of the digital education programme (04) and the design workshop activities (03).
