Abstract

In May 2009, the National Council for Special Education (NCSE) invited tenders for a study to explore the access and progression experiences of students with special educational needs (SEN) moving from compulsory education to further and higher education, with a view to identifying practices and policies to ensure improved access and smooth progression to further and higher education. A team from the School of Education at Trinity College Dublin, and the Centre for Special Needs Education and Research, University of Northampton responded to this invitation and was awarded the contract in July 2009. The research was conducted between July 2009 and July 2012.
