Abstract
The paper presents the methodological approach of art-based research as
a form of conducting research studies in expressive art therapies. In art-based
research, artistic means are applied as methods of data collecting and
processing, as well as presenting research results. Besides being the object of
studying, artistic activity and its products becomes the research method itself.
The methods of art-based research reflect the characteristics of the utilised art
form or means; however, it is important to understand a different research
paradigm which they stem from.
