Description
This workshop will begin by briefly explaining the situation that a lot of lecturers may find themselves in, you do not have enough time to plan your modules and think about changemaker, you are not that familiar with changemaker, you may not be sure about how to teach or assess changemaker objectives. Participants will then discuss what some of their own barriers to working with Changemaker are. This will then be followed by case studies of changemaker in two Sociology modules. Changemaker was embedded into the modules in such a way that it did not cause additional work for the module leader (in fact in many ways it reduced the amount of work). The outcome of this was that there was a huge increase in the number of students getting Changemaker awards. Overall it was a positive and supportive experience for the lecturer and unlike past experiences of Changemaker feeling like a confusing or unrelated activity for students. The workshop will provide participants with a way of thinking about changemaker that they could use in their own modules and concrete examples of this working in practice. Participants will also have the opportunity to look at their own modules and changemaker objectives and discuss with others how they might use a similar model in their own modules and subject areas.Period | 15 Jun 2021 |
