I am a Senior Lecturer in Sustainable Business (Strategy and International Business) and Programme Leader of BA International Business Management. My research interests are in social and sustainable entrepreneurship, place attachment, place-based paradox, sustainable SMEs, and ethnic minority entrepreneurship. I teach courses related to social responsibility and impact, business ethics, sustainable business practices, qualitative research methods and systematic literature review. I have experience in all aspects of academic procedures, including designing new modules and programs at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, designing assessments, validating programs, leading modules and programs, participating in exam boards, and ensuring quality assurance. I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
Before I entered academia, I worked as a management professional in various industries. As a management consultant, I worked on research projects funded by the European Social Fund, Carmarthenshire County Council, and the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG). I have also created and developed commercial business ventures and social enterprise start-ups.
In addition to my research and teaching, I currently run a social enterprise called 'Mohioshi', which is dedicated to empowering girls and women in rural Bangladesh by supporting their education and bridging the gender equality gap within society. I am also part of a community interest company 'The Travellers' Tree' CIC, which combines art, cycling, and nature to improve the mental health of migrants and refugees in Birmingham, UK.
My research interests relate to social and sustainable entrepreneurship, place attachment, place-based paradox, sustainable practises of SMEs, and ethnic minority entrepreneurship.
My teaching areas are connected to social responsibility and impact, business ethics, sustainable business practices, social and sustainable entrepreneurship.
