Description
The memory hubs were set up by NHFT in 2020 to provide community support for those living with dementia and their family members. The East Midlands Academic Health Science Network is commissioning an evaluation of the hub to inform future delivery and expansion of this model.
Layman's description
Northamptonshire Healthcare Foundation Trust and Northamptonshire Carers have collaborated to establish eight Memory Hubs across Northamptonshire since 2021. The University of Northampton were commissioned to carry out an evaluation reviewed two of the flagship sites and explored the impact of this innovative service for those who attend, those with a diagnosis of dementia and their family. The Memory Hub was found to offer a unique service in Northamptonshire that is providing numerous benefits for those who attend and deliver the service. The uniqueness comes from the ability for family carers and the person living with dementia to attend together, reducing concerns and anxieties that can come with separation.
