Abstract

Poster outlining some concerns with current application of mindfulness-based interventions (MBIs) in health and mental health settings. These MBIs rely heavily upon a short-term (6-10 weeks) intervention in the face of many recommendations, both from academia and the traditional Buddhist contexts from which these secular MBIs were developed. A model for setting up a long-term support for mindfulness practice is presented, and an invitation is extended to form partnerships with local & regional health and third-sector bodies to realise this.
