Impact: 04: Quality Education (UN SDG), 10: Reduced Inequalities (UN SDG), 08: Decent Work and Economic Growth (UN SDG)

Description of impact

Our research directly impacted the design of a new research study undertaken by Cadets and Junior Rangers HQ into the 'Status of Former Cadets', as part of a policy review into the social value created by the youth service. Our Return on Investment model developed in the UK Cadets research has been imported to the Canadian team's work, designed to inform policy-makers of the cost-benefit analysis of the Cadets and Junior Rangers programmes. The letter is from the Commander of Cadets and Junior Rangers HQ.

How have research outputs led to this impact?

The research outputs undertaken as part of the UK Cadet Forces research, has directly underpinned and informed similar research being undertaken by the Cadets and Junior Rangers HQ in Canada. The research explores the 'Status of Former Cadets' and in particular the Canadian Cadets and Junior Rangers HQ will be adopting the innovative Return on Investment Model developed and described in our research outputs. This will allow them to quantify the impact (including fiscally) of Cadet engagement by young people on their future life prospects.
