Laura Elliott

I began my nursing career in 2004 after completing a diploma in adult nursing with UON. I went on to complete a BSc Emergency Care at De Montford University before returning to UON to undertake an MSc Autonomous Healthcare Practice in 2010. Following numerous acute clinical roles locally, I completed my Advanced Clinical Practitioner training at Kettering General Hospital. I joined the University of Northampton in 2017 as an associate lecturer and commenced my current role as a Senior Lecturer in Advanced Nursing in April 2018. I also work clinically in urgent care as an advanced practitioner alongside my UON work commitments.

At UON, I am the Programme lead for MSc Advanced Clinical Practice apprenticeship and module leader for NURM111 End Point Assessment Preparation for the ACP apprenticeship. I also module lead NURM088 Advancing Assessment and Reasoning Skills and NURM077 Advancing Practice in Action, which are both undertaken as part of the MSc Advancing Practice. I also work on NURM114/ NUR3015P Non-Medical Prescribing, NURM080 Advanced Assessment, NURM081 Diagnostic Reasoning and NURM089 Minor illness and NURM078 Minor injuries modules. 

As part of my academic role I also supervise dissertation students on OTHM010, am academic assessor for a number of ACP apprentices and am a personal tutor for a number of different PG students. 

I am an external examiner for the University of Liverpool, a member of AAPE and the EPAO network, and a member of the regional HEI ACP network.
