Biography

I am a Professor (Human-Centred Data Intelligence) in Computer Science and the Programme Lead of BSc Artificial Intelligence and Data Science at The University of Northampton in the UK. I teach media technologies, artificial intelligence, and human-computer interaction. My research covers the area of human factors in multimedia, programmable networks, machine learning and immersive media. I have led a number of research and innovation projects including EPSRC-funded SDCN: Software Defined Cognitive Networking. I am an advisor for multiple academic and industry-led projects. I am Associate Editor of Springer Multimedia Systems journal and reviewer of over 10 international journals.

Research Interests

I have 15+ years of experience in:

  • Human computer interaction (HCI) - human-centred design and innovation, quality of user experience, human behaviour modelling
  • Immersive media - Virtual reality (VR), eye tracking and mobility in VR, multi-sensory immersive experience, social VR, VR psychiatry
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) - responsible AI, AI in digital health, AI in education, machine learning, computer vision, ethics.
  • Distributed media - programmable networks, software-defined networks, adaptive streaming, QoS/QoE, objective quality assessment, subjective user study.
