Abstract
This article discusses the results of an evaluation analysis addressing a social intervention aimed at
promoting self-expression and reflection on gender and cultural diversities among pre-adolescents
in two lower secondary schools in Modena. The methodology of the evaluation consisted of different techniques, namely, questionnaires given to pre-adolescents both before and after the tests, group interviews and analysis of videotaped activities. In this
article, we will discuss the data produced through videotaping, which provided us with the possibility to observe the actual communicative processes occurring during the intervention. In particular, the analysis aims to highlight and discuss the actions
that appear most effective in promoting the involvement of pre-adolescents in the discussions.
