Al-Amin Abba Dabo is a highly skilled and experienced professional in the field of supply chain management with a focus on sustainability and digital innovation. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Supply Chain Management from the University of Central Lancashire, where his research was funded by the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF). His doctoral thesis titled "Organisational factors in RFID Adoption" investigated the adoption of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology within supply chain management settings, examining the organizational, technological, and environmental factors influencing its implementation.
Al-Amin also holds a Master of Science in Oil and Gas Operations Management from the University of Central Lancashire, also funded by the PTDF. His dissertation focused on oil and gas sustainability, with a case study of BP, investigating the implementation of sustainability measures in the operations of the oil and gas giant.
He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Geology from the University of Southampton, where he completed an independent mapping project of the Crozon formations in Brittany, France as his final year project.
Al-Amin has extensive teaching and research experience. He has served as a Business Engagement Manager at the Birmingham Centre for Railway Research and Education, University of Birmingham, where he has been involved in the £3 million EU-funded DIGI-RAIL project. He has provided business development and supply chain expertise, facilitated relationships between SMEs and academic staff for R&D collaborations, supported SMEs in diversifying into the rail supply chain, and contributed to the development of the systems engineering module of the M.Sc. Rail Engineering programme.
Prior to his current role, Al-Amin worked as a Business Research Associate (Supply Chains) at the Energy & Bio-products Research Institute, Aston University. He was involved in an ERDF-funded project supporting companies in the West Midlands with technical supply chain expertise for a major bioenergy demonstration and knowledge transfer project. He developed and delivered supply chain masterclasses, conducted research on bioenergy supply chain formation and management, supported business development, and contributed to bid writing and collaborative research projects with local businesses.
Al-Amin has also served as a researcher at the Lancashire Business School, University of Central Lancashire, where he developed and validated a conceptual framework for the adoption of RFID technology within supply chains. He has taught undergraduate and masters-level courses in operations management, supervised dissertations and theses, and contributed to module content development.
With his expertise in supply chain management, sustainability, and digital innovation, Al-Amin Abba Dabo is a recognized professional in the field, actively contributing to research and development projects, engaging with businesses, and promoting the pedagogy of supply chain management.
